2026 Mid-Year Reading Check-In

June marks the halfway point of the year, so instead of focusing solely on this month’s reading, I found myself reflecting on my reading journey for this year.

I noticed that I have gotten much better at DNF’ing books that aren’t working for me. That has helped me spend more time reading books I actually enjoy, with most of my ratings falling between 3 and 5 stars. June was the exception as I ended up with a handful of 2-star reads that briefly put me into a reading slump.

Overall, I’ve found a nice balance between reading ARCs and picking up mood reads, which has made this year feel both productive and enjoyable. Romance and fantasy have definitely been my most-read genres. I do want to add more new release thrillers to the mix though. I’m glad with the books I’ve picked up so far and even more excited about what’s on my reading list for the second half of the year.
