The Windfall by Diksha Basu

Clues to describe this book: Family, Happiness, Wealth, Friendship

Review: The Windfall is a wonderful rags to riches tale that takes place in New Delhi, India. Mr. Jha sells his company, receives an unexpected sum of money, and moves his wife from their tight-knit apartment complex to a ritzy side of town. Mr. Jha is eager to fit into his new status of luxury while Mrs. Jha stays much more grounded and practical. Overall, I enjoyed this sweet little gem of a read. The simple lessons of money can’t buy happiness and finding who your real friends are when you change your social class are pretty prominent themes in this novel. My favorite characters are Mrs. Jha and her best friend, Mrs. Ray. Their mindsets are relatable and their friendship melts your heart. I would highly recommend this book if you are interested in reading books from Indian authors or would like to read more books about Indian culture.
