Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli and Love Simon follows Simon, a closeted gay teen, who tries to balance his friends, family, the blackmailer who threatens to reveal his secret to the whole school while in the midst of it all is trying to figure out the identity of the anonymous classmate he fell in love with online. This is such a beautiful and heartfelt coming out story. I actually watched the movie first in theaters which is how I discovered the book. I loved the book as much as I adored the movie! I didn’t mind the subtle differences between the movie and book and it honestly made me appreciate each story even more because it provides the same powerful message that everyone deserves a great love story. The writing style, characters, and plot were outstanding in more ways I could imagine. I would highly recommend reading the book and watching the movie to anyone as each medium gives its own experience.
